Why the Joyful Penguin?
The short.
The Joyful Penguin was created from a lifelong desire to spend focused time in a creative place, full of peace and contentment, and then sharing it with others.
The long.
As a former elementary educator and missionary (and sometimes both), I tried very hard to keep some sort of creative outlet in my life. Sometimes as a stress reliever, creating was a genuine place of peacefulness and joy. In my younger years, I spent most of my time drawing with different mediums such as ink, charcoal, and pastels, and later on exploring oils, acrylics, and watercolors. As an adult, I felt like I had less time to nurture those areas and would explore different types of crafts like pyrography, quilting, and quilling. I love to work with my hands.
2020 was the year to make my love for creating and my desire to find joy in what I spend my time doing a reality. God opened the door wide open and I ran through it! I established The Joyful Penguin, LLC in October and signed up for as many vendor events as I could during the holiday season and it’s been quite a ride since. What you see available on my website is just the beginning. I am nurturing my art medium (watercolor) a little more before I start to share with you!
Why penguins? I wanted to create art and gifts that bring a little more happiness and joy into the world. Penguins are simply my favorite creatures, and their joie de vivre nature always brings a smile to my face. My hope is that the love and spirit I put into each of my hand made items brings you joy as well. Waddle on, my friends.
